About us
Bali Marle founders James and Marle provide Indonesian-inspired hot sauces, pastes, and spices at farmers’ markets and community events across Massachusetts.
Founded by husband-wife duo, James and Marle in 2019, Bali Marle quickly became a hit in local breweries, with customers following the pair between venues and across cities to grab a bite of their savory goods.
Marle, an Indonesian native, always delighted in cooking her husband their now-signature spicy, Indonesian fare. When his co-workers got a taste of his lunches, they kept coming back for more. With the intense craving for the couples’ unique cuisine growing, the couple decided to transform their lunchtime offerings into a full-fledged business.
In 2020, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic brought on massive economic disruption affecting businesses across every industry and size, causing small businesses to especially scramble, with many shutting their doors for good. Bali Marle faced a similarly meek future, coming to the brink of shutting down. Having put their all into the business over the past year, the idea of closing shop was a far from pleasant consideration.
Instead, they decided to pivot.
In 2021, they introduced a hot sauce line that quickly gained traction. Spice enthusiasts, often referring to themselves as “chiliheads”, came from near and far to get a taste of this new line of hot sauces. In 2022, the company repositioned itself to exclusively provide hot sauces and spicy seasonings, leaving behind the pop-up food scene for good.
You can now find the pair offering their Indonesian-style hot sauces and spice products at farmer’s markets and local events across Massachusetts. To stay up to date on where Bali Marle will be heading next, check out the Calendar of Events and follow them on Facebook.
